Biography of Robert Bonnet

Robert Bonnet studied in Göttingen and Munich, where he received his doctorate on December 9, 1876. He was prosector from 1878 and in 1880 became assistant at the anatomical institute in Munich. On August 5 that year was habilitated as Privatdozent for anatomy, and on February 1, 1881, he was appointed full professor at the Königliche Centraltierarzneischule in Munich.

In 1889 he was also called to become extraordinary professor at the University of Würzburg, and in 1891 moved to Giessen as ordinarius for anatomy and director of the anatomical institute there. In 1895 he was called to Greifswald to assume the positions professor and director of the anatomical institute, and in 1907 moved on to Bonn.

Robert Bonnet was a prolific writer, and from 1892 was the co-editor of the Ergebnisse der Anatomie und Entwicklungsgeschichte, as well as of the Anatomische Hefte (anatomical leaflets) of Friedrich Sigmund Merkel (1845-1919) and Bonnet.
